Status:
Name: Devesh Rakheem Coleridge
Nickname: Dev
Age: 20
Race: Human (Mulatto)
Physical:
Height: 5’8”
Appearance: Lithe but not quite toned, Dev is considered slender though not painfully so. While he enjoys walking he is not an exercising fiend nor is he obsessed with strength thus his musculature is, more or less, average with no excess weight save for a pinch of "baby fat" on his tummy. His skin is the color of light mocha and his hair is rather long and the color of cinnamon which he often keeps up, usually with a clip or chopsticks. His eyes, however, are his most striking feature being two different colors; the right one chocolate brown and the left an icy violet. The strange color of his eyes, people have speculated, might be the reason for his slight paranormal powers.
Another thing to note is he also has three piercings in his right ear and two in his left with the top cartilage piercing in his left connecting via a small chain to a lip ring at the left corner of his bottom lip plus an eyebrow piercing in his right brow; though he often takes the chain off before going in to work.
Occupation:
Dev is the assistant editor for one of the local papers and is also the reason said paper has a creative section now, showcasing local artists’ and writers’ work and informing the public of where to find the artists and authors.
He also likes to volunteer free time to the church and local businesses that he likes to frequent.
Personality:
Dev is a rather quiet person, though not really shy, and he tends to be soft spoken and not very assertive. This, however, changes when he is placed in a position of leadership which is not a place he often chooses for himself or when guiding others in faith, something he is glad to do. While not overly zealous-knowing that zealotry often leads to ungodly acts-Dev is still a religious person, believing in the power of prayer, but he also knows that faith and prayer alone cannot sustain a man as God made humans able to think freely and able to do for themselves and he has no sympathy for those who laze about and leech off of others and society claiming they "can't do anything." He does not try to push his faith onto others, knowing it only makes most people more reticent, but if asked he will do his best to light their way and he also believes wholly in love and that those who love God He loves in return no matter their gender, ethnicity, or sexuality. Along with his quietude he is very patient and is always there to listen and offer support and advice, if he feels he is able.
Dev is also easily frightened by violence, horror and gore, having been gifted with a sort of sixth sense that enables him to feel otherworldly presences, sometimes even see them if they are strong enough and he has never been able to come to terms with it, often wishing he could just turn it off. Also, coinciding with his quiet nature, he is a deep thinker and a creative mind, often submitting short story pieces to the local press-under the pen name of Indivar-in hopes of being published and sharing his passion with others.
History:
Devesh was born in a small hamlet outside of Gables to his parents Eric and Precious Coleridge where he spent most of his life. For the most part his childhood, all the way to his teenage years, was normal. He would go to school during the week, church on Sundays, and his family happened to be one of those that loved each other and worked. However, there were a few incidents during various stages of his childhood and teenage years where strange and quite terrifying things had happened. One such time was when he was about six years old and he and some friends from Sunday school were running about outside the church while the adults all talked. As they neared the cemetery he began to feel cold and achy and inexplicably afraid and since that time he had refused to go near it, walking in large semi circles to go around it or staying close to his parents to hide it from view.
Another time an incident occurred was when he was eleven and visiting his grandmother's house-his mother's mother-and he woke in the middle of the night to a shadowy figure standing over his bed; he refused to stay the night there anymore. A few more incidents occurred, but the most recent one to happen was the week before his school graduation when he was seventeen. His friends had convinced him to go to a party being held in the woods behind the school and some of the party goers stumbled upon an old, abandoned one story home. Naturally curious, his friends went to investigate and dragged him with them, but before he could even step foot inside Devesh became painfully ill, vomiting and experiencing near excruciating pain all over his body and he still swears to this day he saw a demon in the doorway.
Now he is away from home, living in the heart of Gables where he attended college full time for two years and is now making a living as an assistant editor and going to school only part time now. In those years away from home there have been no terribly odd occurrences other than his editor deciding to go on vacation without informing anyone, including Devesh, several weeks a year, but every now and again he has to try hard to convince himself that those shadows down the hall in his apartment building are just that; shadows.
Loves and Nuances:
Loves: God, his family, writing, plants and small, furry animals
Dislikes: “Creepy crawlies” (aka reptiles, rodents, insects, etc.), people who blame others for their suffering without doing anything to try and better themselves and their situation, people who capitalize on the suffering of others, celery, decaf coffee, excessive dirt, disorganization, dark colors and the dark.
Extra: Dev tends to make some sort of noise while he’s working whether it be humming, tapping, whistling or even singing and he is never seen without his travel case in which he keeps all his work papers and personal notebooks and journals.
(Ok, I didn't know how the real world coincided with this world so I took the profile I had already had and tweaked it to try and get it to fit better with what knowledge I had of the RP world. If I messed something up or something needs to be changed, please let me know. Thank you. ^^)
